Project : Environmental sensor system based on heterogeneous nanomaterial array
Purpose This research is performed to develop hybrid nanomaterials and manufacturing processes for high-performance, low-power, ultra-compact environmental sensor. Also, we'll develop processes of surface functionalization and material conversion of nanomaterials. Synthetically, we'll get chemical sensor which can detect various chemical substances.
Contents We aim to develop hybrid functional nanomaterials for high-performance, low-power, and ultra-compact environment sensors, fabrication and integration of hybrid nanomaterials in sensing devices, and implementation of multiplexed sensing array. In particular, we plan to develop hybrid nanomaterials and use them for the high-performance environment sensors.
In Phase I, we developed methods of nanomaterials and integration. In the first year of Phase II, we developed EHD printing method for sub 100 patterns of nanomaterials on the electrode. In second year, using above methods, our research group will fabricate multiplexed gas sensor array and construct gas sensing system on the Android platform. In third year, we'll construct mobile gas sensing system specialized for multiplexed gas sensor array and sensing database of toxic gases by our chemical sensors.
Finally, in Phase III, ultra-compact environment sensor modules and low-power/high-performance node for environmental sensor network will be completed.
Expected Contribution We can open related market and develop nanomaterial-based high-performance, low-power, and ultra-compact environment sensor by developing high-sensitivity environment sensor.
Also, market of smart environment sensor for mobile device is opend by our research.
The progress of ubiquitous sensor network using ultra compact sensor contribute to creation of demand in health care and intelligent building.
